Meet Bassir! Resident optometrist at Ollie Quinn's Clapham boutique. We sat down with Bassir to find out what makes him tick, and to chat the importance of eye-care.
1. Tell us about yourself
My name is Bassir. I’m the, self proclaimed, most fashionable Optometrist in the world (definitely in London 😁).
2. What's your favourite part of working in optometry?
I know it’s cliche, but I just love helping people see properly again. Especially in circumstances when they’re experiencing headaches and eye strain symptoms. I feel like an ocular philanthropist.
3. What do you like to do outside of work?
I am an avid gym goer and love bouldering at my local climbing gym in Acton. I’m very into my music and movies, so you’ll find me at a variety of gigs around London as well as the Chiswick Cinema.
4. What's the most important thing we should know about eye health?
The most important thing you should know is that not every condition has any symptoms attached to it! They’re usually the more sinister conditions too, like Glaucoma and Tumours at the back of the eye. The only way to definitively confirm the eye is healthy is by having an optometrist to have a look inside, so make sure you’re getting regular checks done!
5. Lastly - which OQ frame is your fave??
My all time favourite OQ frame is the Cleo. It has, unfortunately, been discontinued and I think it should be relaunched and renamed Bass instead. Of the current crop of frames, I’d say my fav is the olive coloured Romeo
